Course Details (Fees and Duration) For Firearms and Hunter Education
Canadian Firearms Safety Course (CFSC)
- This is a 10 hour course. The course costs a total of $145.00 ($130.00 for the course which includes both written and practical examinations and $15.00 for the manual).
- Exam challenge: $40.00
- Manual: $15.00
Canadian Restricted Firearms Safety Course (CRFSC)
- The CFSC is a pre-requisite to the completion of this course.
- If the CRFSC is taken within 1 year of having taken the CFSC, the CRFSC will be 6 hours in length. The cost will be $105.00 ($90.00 for the course with practical and written examinations and $15 for the manual).
- If the CRFSC is not taken within a year of the CFSC, the course is 10 hours at $145.00 ($130.00 for the course with practical and written examinations and $15.00 for the manual).
- Exam challenge: $40.00
- Manual: $15.00
Ontario Hunter Education Course (OHEC)
- Stand Alone Course is 12.5 hours in duration (taken without a CFSC nor proof of previous CFSC course). The cost for the Stand Alone Course is $145.00 ($125.00 for the course with examination and $20.00 for the manual).
- OHEC One-Stop (taken in conjunction with CFSC course OR proof of previous CFSC course) is 10 hours long. The course cost for the OHEC portion is $120.00 ($100.00 for the course with examination and $20.00 for the manual).
- Exam challenge: $40.00 (for a person with an out-of-province hunting licence who has been in Ontario for at least 6 months)
